H is for Hiders and Hunters and High Score

This was the 50th annual Easter Egg hunt at the Marshalls.  My husband was 10 months old for the first one.  Some years we have no kids.  Some years we have dozens.

First the eggs are all gathered and the Hiders are chosen.  Really, you just volunteer and you're in.  It's not a very exclusive group.

That's Aunt Jean.  She heads up the Easter hunt and she takes pictures of all of the participants with the camera she probably bought in 1978.  If you happen to be in any of them, she will mail you a 5x7 of the photo.  She only gets 5x7's. She and her husband never had any kids but she loves to run this event.
The hiding is the best part for me.  That's my brother-in-law Ed on the left.  He's 6'4" and can hide them up really high.  Can you spot the eggs in these pictures?
Here come the hunters.  We started with only two little ones, but 3 or 4 more showed up later.  We had to re-hide some eggs.
The look on their faces kills me.  They really have no clue what we're about to do.

Clover found the first egg...and several others.  She loves the egg hunt.  Jean knows exactly how many eggs we have and, in the end, everyone has to hunt to find those that are left.  This year there were 10.  We found all but two.  I think Clover may have found them.

Before the hunt begins, Aunt Jean goes around to all the adults and gathers their pocket change.  She fills all the plastic eggs with candy and she counts out all the money into even quantities.  Then each kid gets the same amount of money no matter how many eggs they got.  I think, in the end, there were about 6 kids and they each got a little over $5.

I told you about the shooting competitions previously.  The Girl won the Ladies Shotgun trophy.  She kicked my butt.  Everyone did.  Even my niece who never shot a shotgun before.
For about 5 minutes, I had the Ladies pistol trophy won, but someone talked Berniece into shooting and she beat me by 7 points.  My own Best Friend.

We had a great weekend, as usual.   Brown eyed Man, The Girl, Clover, Calvin & Berniece decided to stay one more night.  I came home with The Boy and The Girlfriend.  My house was so quiet last night.  I went to bed at 7 and didn't want to get up when 5 a.m. rolled in.  Sweaty Kitty was happy to see me.  She sat on my lap as I read the paper and she slept on my back as I slipped into a coma.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter too.
