- I'm currently the a trapshooting association and without going into a lot of trapshooting politics (can you believe there are politics in trapshooting?), this was a major feat for us to get a shoot from our association going in Eastern Washington, which is what most people would consider the other association's territory.
- Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we partnered with the Spokane Gun Club and White Flyer targets to hold an event on Friday, October 1 that would raise money for Susan G. Komen of Eastern Washington. We shot hot pink targets for three doubles events and we raised $ 2,600! I have to admit I was really shocked at the amount of money we raised. I thought we would be lucky to raise $500. People are so generous.
- The shoot, as a whole, was successful. I'm not sure the extent to which any of you understand trapshooting (I'll try to explain it as we progress with this blog), but to have a shoot with 15 full squads of people this late in the year, on opening weekend of deer season, is pretty darn good. So many people were happy with the events and asked whether we would have it again next year. It was very encouraging. I really love this club. It's been around for so many years and I hope they will continue to be a part of our association.
- The Brown Eyed Man didn't shoot. This never happens. He had neck surgery earlier this Spring and wasn't able to compete this year at all. He's been shooting games at the club, but no competitive registered shooting. He chose not to shoot at this event and spent most of his time talking with other shooters and showing off his gun cleaning rods: http://www.shoottowingear.com/ He sold several and I think he took some orders.
- We had a great time! That's not out of the ordinary. We have many good good friends in trapshooting and no matter where we go, we see people we love and get to spend time with them. It was a whirlwind trip as it's a 6.5 hour drive from our home to Spokane. We left Thursday afternoon and came home Sunday evening.
Boy left for "school" while we were gone. He's off to a Lineman's Apprenticeship School right now and he's only going to be gone 10 weeks. It's not like he was leaving for 4 years or something so get off my back about not being there when he left. We said goodbye on Thursday and I cried a little bit because it's a big new step for him and I'm going to miss him. I already do.
