I had to drive to the coast yesterday to visit a job site. Can you believe that the Oregon Coast looked like this on December 5th? Amazing. I had the sunroof open for about an hour.
After my site visit I stopped by Cape Mears. The last time I was there must have been about 12-13 years ago. My brother and I had been duck hunting over near Tillamook and on our way back home we saw some signs that said there were whales to be seen from the lighthouse. So, we stopped. We used the binoculars provided by the helpful whale spotters and I saw a whale! Yippee! They gave me a sticker that said "I saw my first whale today". I stuck it on the console of Tim's truck and we went on our way. We stopped a short time later at a gas station and I got out to do something. Probably use a bathroom. When I got back in Tim was bent over laughing. He was dying laughing. I said "What's so funny?". He replied "Oh this couple that just went by, you really had to be there". Whatever.
We headed back to Scappoose where he was living, we decided to go into Portland for lunch. We dropped off our film for processing (we're that old - no digital camera). We generally wandered around Portland for the day and into the evening. We always did things like this. We were best friends and had a great time hanging out together. Late that night as I was changing into my pajamas I noticed something stuck to my pants. It was that damn sticker. He sat it on my seat back at the gas station and I wore that thing on my ass ALL DAMN DAY.
So, anyway...I walked around Cape Mears. Took in the sights:
Isn't this a beautiful place? One of the things I love about where I live is that in one hour I can be at the coast, in the mountains, or in the desert.
While at the park I saw some elk droppings. I know you love animal poo as much as I do. Admit it!
I took a back road on my way home. I got stopped for some road construction for about 15 minutes and I got to just sit and look at these trees and do nothing. Absolutely nothing. I had no cell service so no one could call me and I couldn't check email. It was glorious.
Such a beautiful late fall day. This morning Clover Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez Carter and I were discussing her zest for life and we decided that she might start offering some Life Coaching Seminars. The first few sessions will be:
1. How to entertain yourself for 8-12 hours with a simple bath towel.
2. How to make friends with a 10 year old cat and not lose an eye in the process.
3. If you try hard enough, anything is edible.
I'll post a sign-up and syllabus when she gets them ready.
