Birthday Re-cap

I am a fortunate girl.  I received some lovely gifts for my birthday and had some wonderful things done for me too.

Brown eyed Man bought me a Kindle Fire. 


I wanted it or an iPad and I really thought that my parents were getting me the iPad so I figured Brown eyed Man could use the Kindle if that were the case.   Here is why I thought I was getting an iPad.  My Mom and Dad wanted to come to town and buy us lunch and give me a "very special gift"  Her exact words.  If that doesn't say iPad, I don't know what does. 

Then she called me later in the week and said "I don't want you to get too excited about your gift.  It's not like it's diamond earrings or anything".  Again, iPad?  I think so.

So Saturday rolls around and I'm already picking out iPad covers and they walk in with a couple square, non iPad shaped boxes and a purse.  This pattern:

Inside was a package shaped just like an iPad!  It was a Swedish/English Dictionary for children. 

I can now say "I have a big muffin" in Swedish.  There was also another book about my favorite store in the entire world, Ingebretsen's in Minneapolis.


So no iPad...but my Mom wasn't wrong!  I did get a "very special gift".  One of the best gifts ever!  My Dad, knowing how much a hated my paper St. Lucia crown, made me a beautiful copper St. Lucia crown!  Best. Gift. Ever.

So there you have it. I'm a lucky girl.  I'm learning to live with my Kindle.  It works for everything I wanted the iPad for anyway andI'm wearing my crown around the house even though we have 9+ months until we celebrate St. Lucia again.
