See ya later bitches!

The Girl graduated yesterday  It was a great day.  Family and friends came to watch the ceremony and celebrate our youngest kid moving on to the next phase of her life.  I celebrated that and the fact that I NEVER have to deal with the bitchy mothers from this school ever again.

Let's start with some facts:
1. Both kids have gone to catholic school as long as I have known them.
2. I've known them for 10 years now.
3. I'm not catholic.  None of us really are, but both kids have been baptized catholic.
4. I'm not "from here".  I'm from The Dalles.  And sort of from Eugene.  And a little bit Portland.
5. I'm the "Second wife", which probably makes me a whore.  I don't know.

Numbers 3 and 4 have pretty much marked me as an Outsider/Heathen in the eyes of most of the women whose children go to the two schools the Boy and The Girl went to.  I have known/seen these people for years and to this day some of them will look at me with complete indifference when I see them at the grocery store.  I smile and they look at me blankly like "who are you?".

Last Thursday we went to the baccalaureate/senior awards dinner and the other family sitting at our table actually introduced themselves to us as if we had never met or, I don't know, seen each other at every basketball/football/volleyball/softball game for the last four years.  It is unbelievable to me how unfriendly these people are.

To be fair, I have made friends with one other mom and I really enjoy her and her family.  I will keep in touch with her.  She was my go-to person for all of my catholic questions and to get the skinny on people involved with the school.  Her husband and their 3,578 other family members went and/or go to this school.  There are 2 or 3 other mothers who were at least civil and at most pleasant, but as for the rest of them, I'm done.  I don't have to try anymore.  Actually, I think I quit trying when The Boy was a sophomore or a junior.
