I think The Girl must have used my phone to take this picture of Sweety Kitty. I must admit, she's not the most photogenic cat so this is her looking pretty darn good.
Actually, now that I look at it, I took this picture. That's my bathrobe, my ugly croc-slipper and the garage floor. Sweety Kitty and I have a little chat each morning while Clover eats her breakfast. So, I'm sitting on the garage step and SW shows up from god-knows-where. She usually follows us when we go out so Clover can do her business and SW stayed out there until I leave for work. Then she disappears into the house somewhere.
Next up, is Clover about to come un-glued because there is a little Bufflehead duck that gives her fits. That duck leisurely swims past and as soon as Clover makes her move, he pops up out of the water and flies a little further down the canal.
Brown Eyed Man and I went to Las Vegas for the SHOT Show. We always have a great time, but I'm not a fan of Las Vegas. Monday we drove to Portland and met my Mom at their place. We took her to dinner and she took us to the airport. On the way to the airport I asked if she had any advil as I had a headache. In her purse, short squatty bottle. I found it. I took 4. About half an hour after she dropped us off she called to tell me that I had actually taken 4 benadryl rather than advil. Excellent. The flight to Vegas was a piece of cake as I was in a coma for most of it. I don't remember any of the trip from the airport to the hotel or checking in at the hotel. I think we got there at 1 a.m. or something.
They upgraded us to a suite because they had overbooked the hotel and then they wanted to move us back to a regular room the next night. I complained, they changed there mind and that's how I got a suite in the middle of the strip for $ 47.10/night.
We had a jacuzzi tub. I took a bath every night. It felt great on my legs after walking 5-10 miles every day.
We had a view of the strip, looking right over the volcano at the Mirage. Our windows were filthy though so the pictures aren't that great.
The SHOT Show had it's usual share of celebrities and semi-celebrities. We saw Lynn Swann from the Steelers. What does he have to do with Colt guns? No idea.
R. Lee Ermey was there. He's a busy guy at the show as he signs autographs at several booths throughout the week.
This couple is always there. I don't know why or what they do. They wear the same outfits every time. Her jacket weighs 35 lbs. and his weighs 60-70 lbs. Why do they wear this stuff? I have no idea. Our friends Sue & Nadene enjoying the 3-D Browning show.
Brown Eyed Man visiting with friends. I think their discussing men's shoes. Really.
A picture of the Brown Eyed Man and me.
Deke Rivers "The Pistolero". Never heard of him? Neither had I but he was kind enough to take a photo with me.

While we were in LV, the whole world was floating away at home. We had 6 inches of rain in 48 hours. This caused quite a bit of flooding and I spent most of Thursday calling The Boy to ask him to go make sure our house wasn't flooding. Why not ask The Girl, you ask? That girl could lie on the sofa for 4 days and never notice that the house was flooding until she got up and noticed she was knee deep in water. Everything ended up just fine and we had no water damage. Yay! especially nice since the area where our house was built was affectionately known as "The Swamp" for many years before we moved here.
The Girl, Clover and I took a walk down to the river on Saturday morning and it was definitely up. Most of the paths we walk had previously been covered in water. We found a snake that drowned because he got tangled in some (ironically) erosion control wattles.
I hate snakes. If this were a living snake, I would have screamed my guts out and been gone, but a dead snake I can look at all day. He was really kind of pretty. Once, while duck hunting, I found what I thought was a dead rattlesnake and I went to pick it up. When I got close enough he rattled and I bolted and then I thought "What the heck was I going to do with that snake once I picked it up anyway?"Swollen river. To give you some perspective, here is what it looks like in the summer:
So there you go. In addition to this riveting week, I decided that start a whole new eating plan and no, it was not easy to follow while in Las Vegas. Find me a diet with Bloody Mary's on it and I'll be your best friend.
