Guns, Bowling, Bad food, Bagpipes, and Basketball

The Oregon House is currently considering a bill that would prevent public agencies from releasing the information that identifies holders of or applicants for concealed handgun licenses.  It would allow this disclosure from criminal justice purposes pursuant to court orders.

Here is why I support HB2787.  If a person makes the effort to obtain a concealed handgun license, they must first complete a handgun safety class and then pass a criminal background check.  You don't just walk in and pick one up.  Then, you must renew that license every 4 years. 

Why would anyone choose to carry concealed you may ask?  I want to protect myself and my family from harm.  That's it.  I really don't want to carry a gun.  It's something that I have  to think about all the time.  It's an added weight in my purse or on my body and I don't need any extra weight in either of those places.  However, I also don't want to be raped, robbed, murdered, watch my loved ones be raped, robbed, or murdered and I don't want to rely on anyone else to protect me.  911 and the police aren't standing around waiting to stop crimes.  They are there to respond after a crime has been committed.  If someone is coming after me I can't say "Hey, time out!  I need to make a quick phone call"

If my private information were released, then anyone who has that information would then know that there is a likelihood that I have a gun or guns in my home.  I'm now a target for theft. In addition, it's just not any one's business whether I have one or not.  How does it serve the public good for there to be a public list of CHL holders?

Moving on...I want this gun.  Not really.  I'm not into this type of shooting, but I think this gun is kind of cool.  Hello Kitty pink and all.

Wienery/Winery
While in Roseburg this past weekend, we saw this:

Berniece thought we should buy it and sell hot dogs and wine.  It's a Wienery/Winery!  What goes well with a kosher dog?

Anyone ever see Grease 2?  I'm one of probably 5 people who did and two of those people were named Tina and Kristi. I don't know who the other two are.  If you were one of them you would get the reference.

Brown-eyed man and his BFF/BF (Best Friend Forever/Boyfriend), Calvin were teaching a handgun safety class this past weekend in Roseburg.  We have a friend who is an owner of this super cool bowling alley called Ten Down.  One side has a restaurant, where they taught the class, the other side has 24 lanes of super awesome bowling and a private area that you can rent that has big comfy sofas and about 8 or 10 lanes.  They have a huge arcade, a private meeting area, a pro shop and a great staff.  I haven't been to a bowling alley for many years so maybe they're all turning cool.  The bowling alleys I remembered were smokey and dark. 

After Berniece and I finished with our portion of the class, we went next door and rented a lane for an hour.  I forgot socks, but they sell them there!  I was glad not to be renting socks.  Berniece beat me into the ground with her bowling skillz.  She must practice.  Let me tell you, it's way different than the Wii.

I would HIGHLY recommend this place if you're in the Roseburg area and you're looking for a place to bowl.  We loved it.

St. Patricks Day
Guess who forgot that today is St. Patrick's Day?  Guess who has a dog named, of all things, CLOVER, and forgot it was St. Patrick's Day?  The same person who wore BROWN today.

On another note, does anyone really think Irish food is good?  Also, why does everyone mix up Ireland and Scotland when it comes to St. Patrick's Day?  For example, there are always bagpipes played somewhere on this day, yet I thought those were Scottish?  I know they're near each other, but we don't German music on Bastille Day.  I rest my case.

NCAA
Finally today, I would like to discuss the NCAA March Madness Madness.  While I don't care for basketball, if I had to watch any basketball, it would be college level.  For some reason I LOVE March Madness.  I can't wait to fill out my bracket.  I can't wait to see how the games end up every day.  I actually look forward to watching the games.  So for today, I won 3 games and lost 3.  Brown eyed Man has won 4 games and lost 2.  Why is he doing better than me?  Who knows.  I filled out both of the brackets.  He didn't even look at them.  I just want an extra chance to win the office pool.
